At least 432 people are reportedly suffering from a food poisoning outbreak at a restaurant near Kent State University, according to a report from WKYC-TV.
The sickened patrons all ate at Chipotle Mexican Grill in Kent, Ohio. Kent health officials took food and biological samples from sick customers of the restaurant to the Ohio Department of Health in Columbus. On Tuesday, investigators say they have enough information to lead them to suspect a norovirus as what is sickening these hundreds of people.
Patrons of Chipotle who became ill all ate at the restaurant between April 15 and 18. Symptoms from those infected with the norovirus include severe vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and cramping. Some people have developed a low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and tiredness.
Chipotle closed voluntarily after the reports of the outbreak and reopened Saturday and since then, no one has reported any injuries. Norovirus is not treatable through antibiotics.
