NUTRO Pet Food Causing Food Poisoning?

Filed April 25th, 2008 amy

ConsumerAffairs.com did a frightening expose on food poisoning in pets that eat NUTRO pet food.

In what Consumer Affairs calls “a worrisome health trend among dogs and cats across the country [that] has surfaced in the past few months,” pets across the country consuming NUTRO pet food are experiencing classic food poisoning symptoms like sudden and recurring bouts of diarrhea, vomiting, and other digestive problems. Through an examination of reports submitted by readers, ConsumerAffairs.com uncovered the common link: the food the dogs and cats were eating.

Although the article doesn’t mention any lab-confirmed results, the consumer reports point disturbing links toward the problem being with the pet food. Many of the folks who wrote in to complain stopped feeding their pets the NUTRO pet food, and their pets got better. When they resumed the NUTRO pet food diet, the symptoms reappeared. Although this might not turn out to be a food poisoning issue, it’s definitely sounding a little too familiar to the many pet owners who lost their dogs and cats due to last year’s contaminated Menu Foods pet food.
