Compensation Available for Chipotle Grill Norovirus

Chipotle Grill restaurant has agreed to pay for the medical costs related to the hundreds of Kent, Ohio, patrons who became ill after eating at the restaurant a few weeks ago.
The company’s COO says the restaurant has created a claims program and process “for the reimbursement of medical expenses related to a suspected norovirus outbreak” the Web site AuroraAdvocate.com reports.
As of early last week, at least 428 cases of illness have been linked to an unknown contaminant acquired by people eating at the restaurant. The latest indication as to what poisoned the diners is a suspected form of acute gastroenteritis.
Chipotle says the norovirus is isolated to its Kent, Ohio branch of its chain restaurants. Chipotle wants customers who ate at the restaurant between April 15 and 18 and suspect they’ve been victimized by the norovirus can call Chipotle’s claims line at 888-366-2150.
Company officials say the restaurant is providing the care for those customers to show its dedication to safety standards. It closed the Ohio chain for a full day to clean the restaurant with a bleach solution.
