Salmonella outbreak at New Hampshire camp linked to pudding

Filed April 30th, 2009 joshua

Pudding served to students participating in an overnight camp in New Hampshire has been blamed for the salmonella outbreak which infected at least 50 students.

Although students first reported getting ill at Stone Environmental Camp two weeks ago, the school and its cafeteria stayed open and hosted students from other schools.

Through the investigation, more students fell ill with salmonella poisoning. Health officials finally zeroed in on pudding and the mixer used to prepare it.

Only after a second group of students fell ill was the school forced to close - last Friday, two weeks following the first reports. The school has now re-opened.
