Filed December 29th, 2009 joshua

Ham products distributed mostly in northern New England have been recalled due to a Listeria contamination.

According to a release from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Associated Grocers of Maine has been forced to recall the following product because of the bacterial contamination: 16-ounce packages of “SUPER TRIM, Shurfine, IMPORTED, COOKED HAM, WATER ADDED, 98% FAT FREE.”

The product was manufactured on Nov. 25 and bears the Establishment number 141 inside a Canadian seal of inspection and a Sell By date of 10JA24 (Jan. 24, 2010).

Canadian food inspectors first found the contamination and alerted domestic authorities.

The ham product was distributed to retail locations in Maine and New Hampshire.
