Michigan health officials said Thursday that the E. coli outbreak that began at Michigan State University (MSU) has spread to 24 people statewide.

The Chico Enterprise-Record reported that 21 cases of E. coli have been linked to a fundraiser held in Forest Ranch on Sept. 6 to benefit the volunteer fire department there. Several hundred people attended the event. Four people were hospitalized because of the sickness, including a young child.

Investigators still haven’t determined the cause of the E. coli outbreak at MSU. Probably cases jumped to 23 last week.
